Community detoxification round 2 details

Sharing the details about an upcoming Dr. Cabral 7-day detox. Sharing the details here and how to join in if you’d like!

Hi friends! How’s the morning going? I LOVED reading about your goals for the upcoming year. Please keep me updated on your progress and if you have any post requests or topics I can cover to support you, please comment or send me an email gina@fitnessista.com.

It’s hard to believe that holiday break is over and the kids are headed back to school this week. While I’m devastated – I enjoyed sleeping in and low-key days a liiiittle too much – it’s going to be nice to get back into a routine. We have a lot of things to look forward to over the next few months, including a Disney cruise, a trip to Disneyland, and a top-secret trip (it’s part of Liv’s birthday surprise).

One of the things I’m also looking forward to this month is another EquiLife 7-day detox. I felt SO GREAT after the last one, and it’s been a few months, so I’m ready for another round. Usually every January, I do some type of reset. Sometimes I cut out sugar and alcohol entirely for the month, other times, I’ll just focus on solid nutrition. It feels amazing to get back in the habit of eating (and craving) vegetables and fresh foods, especially after the joyful avalanche of holiday sweets and cocktails.

Moderation is my jam now, especially since the days of depriving myself are long gone. If I want a sweet treat or something more indulgent, I eat it and enjoy every bite. It’s been a festive couple of months, and I’m feeling a bit sluggish and craving sugar more than usual. Usually by the time New Years rolls around, I’m looking forward to making my way back to more *normal* eating. I love to kickstart it with a little reset and this year, I’m doing this liver-based functional medicine detox.

SO many of you joined me last time, so I wanted to invite you to join in if you’d like to go for another round. The fun starts January 22, so you can order your kit now and you’ll be ready to go!

Here’s more about this 7-day detox:

– It’s a liver-based detox to help reset your body, provide a break from digesting heavy foods, and potentially help your body eliminate toxins that we accumulate from our environment. It includes functional medicine ingredients and Ayurvedic herbs to support phase 1 and 2 liver detoxification.

– It’s nutrition-focused. It includes the POWERHOUSE Daily Nutritional Support powder (which I’ve had in my smoothies for the past couple of months and notice a difference in how I feel when I drink this smoothie), and meal guidelines for the remaining meals. The goal is to NOT have your body depleted of nutrients during the process.

– It can potentially help with weight loss (although that’s not a focus for me), along with anti-aging, and total body wellness.

– It’s only 7 days! When I first started working with a naturopath (back in the old days! It was like 2010), he had me do a month-long detox that was similar in format (but did not include the Ayurvedic supplements). It’s so much easier to do for 7 days, and I feel like my results were even better from the extra nutritional support. (The first two days are supplements and smoothies only – I typically add in some berries – and on day 3, you add in nutrient-dense meals using their meal guideline/template.) It’s also very flexible; many people start the plan on day 3 (smoothie in the am, vegan lunch, Paleo dinner) and have excellent results.

Top 6 ingredients that are included in the program:

1) N-Acetyl Cysteine (NAC), which can stimulate the production of glutathione in the body

2) Glutathione, which is an antioxidant that can aid in healing and liver detoxification

3) Broccophane, an antioxidant that can enhance the liver’s detoxification ability

4) Alpha Lipoic Acid, another antioxidant that can improve detoxification

5) Triphala, a trifecta of Ayurvedic herbs that can support detox and digestion

6) Vitamins and minerals, to support the body and help to close nutrient gaps

Each detox kit includes the following:

Daily Nutritional Support:

This one-stop-shop for vitamins, minerals, protein, electrolytes, and antioxidants is the heart-and-soul of the Dr.Cabral Detox. With 15 grams of vegan protein, Daily Nutritional Support provides your body with much-needed energy and nutrition while your body begins to rid itself of toxins.

FM Detox:

Utilizing the most recent research in Functional Medicine, FM Detox provides the compounds necessary to support both phases of liver detoxification. Essential amino acids, antioxidants, and botanical extracts like milk thistle help the body to capture and move toxins to the liver where they can be metabolized and removed during phase two. Ingredients like dandelion root extract support the production of bile which aids in elimination. As a diuretic, dandelion root increases water supplied to the liver which facilitates toxin elimination in the urine.

AYU Detox:

Incorporating ancient Ayurvedic healing traditions that support optimal detoxification, the AM Detox helps begin the detox process. Various diuretics move water to the liver and increase the solubility of toxins. Triphala, the combination of three plants: Emblica Officinalis, Terminalia bellerica, and Terminalia chebula, have been studied for their roles in gastrointestinal health. When used in conjunction, it is suggested this powerful trio promotes the growth of beneficial gut microbes Bifidobacteria and Lactobacillus, while inhibiting the growth of undesirable strains.

Things I’ve noticed after doing this detox twice:

– As someone who has had gallbladder concerns in the past (that I was able to resolve on my own), I always like to show my liver some extra support. I don’t have gallbladder pain at ALL anymore (I think quitting Beyond Meat helped with that, too), and after two successful detoxes, I know I’ll be incorporating this into my routine at least twice a year.

– My energy was a little low the first day, but by the second afternoon, I felt amazing. I was energized, focused, my skin was glowing, and I felt great.

– It was a very easy month for my cycle. I didn’t have any cramps or PMS symptoms, and I’ve learned that the months I’m more strategic with my workouts, sleep, stress relief, and nutrition, my cycles are uneventful in the best way.

– It reset my tastebuds. When I have more sugar in my diet, things like fruit and salad start to taste muted to me. By bringing things back to basics, it reawakened my senses to what I like to food to taste like, and I could go back to fully enjoying my meals and being present at meal times.

– I don’t weigh myself regularly, but noticed that my clothes fit better after completely the detox. I felt less bloated and inflamed. You can read my recap of the last detox plus the recipes I used here!

This detox is NOT for you IF:

– you currently have or are recovering from an eating disorder. Keep working on improving your relationship with food and your health, and know that I’m cheering for you and sending you my love and support.

– you are training for a strenuous event or need to maintain a super active lifestyle. For days 1-2 you want to take it easy (walks, stretching, gentle yoga, or nothing at all). If you’re not able to do that, you can do a modified version of the detox by having the smoothies for breakfast and lunch, and then a nutrient-dense dinner at night. Let me know if you have questions on how to do this!

– You have any health concerns that would prevent you from joining in.

****As always, check with your doctor before making and fitness or nutrition changes. Honor your body.*****

Frequently Asked Questions

What can I do to detox my body, lose weight and get rid of it?

Drinking water helps flush toxins from your system. It’s also essential for maintaining healthy skin and hair. Hydration is essential for your body. Water helps with digestion and flushes sodium out of your system.

Green tea is an alternative to drinking alcohol. Green tea is rich in catechins that help to reduce stomach fat, and caffeine stimulates metabolism.

How can you lose weight in just 7 days at home?

Reduce calories and drink water. You should also exercise regularly. It’s as simple as that! You may be tempted to skip meals, but this is not recommended. Skipping meals can lead to overeating later when you feel hungry again.

Do not starve yourself. Do not forget to track how many calories your body is consuming. Slowly increase your intake. For instance, if you normally consume 2,000 calories daily, then increase that number by 500 calories every day. This means that you will be adding 1,500 calories per day to your daily diet.

Many online resources are available to provide more details and advice on how to lose weight. Google is a great place to start. Simply type “how to lose weight fast,” and you’ll find hundreds of results.

If you’d rather read about the topic in person, you might check out local libraries. You can often find free weekly seminars that feature diet experts discussing various topics related to weight reduction.

Can I eat carbs while on the Ketogenic diet?

Yes, you can eat carbohydrates while on the Ketogenic Diet. You should limit your intake of carbohydrates. Instead, eat high-fiber veggies such as broccoli, cauliflower, Brussels sprouts and kale. These will fill you up without adding unnecessary calories.

Be sure to eat plenty avocados, nuts and seeds, as well as olive oil and coconut oil. These foods are high-in saturated fats which are essential for ketosis.

Is there a natural alternative to prescription drugs that suppress appetite such as phentermine or oxycodone?

Green tea extract is the best alternative to prescription diet pills for those seeking weight loss. Green tea has epigallocatechin glyate (EGCG), which stimulates metabolism. This helps you burn fat by stimulating thermogenesis.

Antioxidants in green tea help prevent damage from oxidation and stress.

However, you should know that green tea does nothing to cause weight loss. Green tea is a way to make your body burn more calories.

Green tea can help you lose weight, but only if you follow a controlled diet.

Another option is to supplement with L-Carnitine. This amino acid increases energy levels and promotes muscle growth. The downside is that it doesn’t curb your appetite, so you still need to eat regular meals.

How To

African mango extract has potential benefits

African Mango Oils have long been used as a natural remedy for many ailments, including cancer. These extracts are from ancient Egypt and were used to treat diabetes, stop bleeding, heal wounds, and more.

In modern times, scientists at the University of Nigeria discovered that African mango extracts contain certain compounds such as Tannins, flavonoids, Vitamin C, polyphenols, carotenoids, tannin, and saponin, which help prevent blood clotting, fight free radicals, improve liver functions, reduce cholesterol levels, lower blood pressure, promote cell growth, boost immune systems, and increase energy.

  1. Cancer treatment. Around 50% of all cases of cancer worldwide are caused or exacerbated by environmental factors. Therefore, it is essential to find ways to prevent cancer. Numerous studies have demonstrated that antioxidants found in fruits like blueberries, tomatoes, bananas, oranges and peas can prevent cancer.
  2. Antioxidants neutralize harmful substances known as “free radicals,” which can damage cells and cause genetic mutations. Research has shown that African mango extracts can reverse or slow down the growth of tumors in mice. One study revealed that African mango extracts stopped the growth of colon cancer cells in vitro (cells that were grown in laboratory dishes). Another study demonstrated that African Mango Extract could inhibit the growth and metabolism of prostate cancer cells in vivo. These findings suggest that this product could potentially help treat some types of cancer.
  3. Prevention of cancer. A study published by the National Institutes of Health that found African mango extracts prevent breast-cancer development was published recently. They believe that African mangoes’ active ingredients inhibit the activity of hormones responsible for estrogen production, which can increase breast cancer risk.
  4. Inflammation Reduction. Inflammation can be reduced by the use of chemicals from white blood cells to attack foreign tissue and cause pain and swelling. Inflammation can occur when there is infection, injury, or irritation. Chronic inflammation can cause some diseases like arthritis and asthma. Research has shown that African mango extracts can lower the production and severity of inflammatory chemicals. This could help to reduce the severity of symptoms.
  5. Improve Liver Function. The liver is an essential organ in our bodies. It regulates digestion as well detoxification and protein production. A healthy liver helps regulate internal processes, such as water balance and sugar level. Research shows that African mango juice can stimulate the growth of liver cells injured by drugs and toxins. People who consume large amounts African mango juice report feeling less tired after eating.
  6. Blood Pressure Lowering. The American Heart Association recommends adults to maintain a normal reading between 120/80 mm Hg and 140/90mmHg. High blood pressure damages arteries and increases the risk of heart attacks and strokes. Researchers from the University of California-Davis looked into the effects of African mango extracts on blood pressure in rats. Their research indicated that African mango extracts significantly lowered blood pressure.
  7. Bone Building Vitamin D3 and calcium are both nutrients found in African mangoes that can promote bone growth. Double-blind, placebo-controlled research at the University of Alabama School of Medicine found that supplementation with 500mg of vitamin D3, 2 grams of calcium daily and 3 grams of potassium citrate significantly increased bone mineral density. The amount of potassium citrate used was equivalent to consuming about 10 ounces of fresh African mango juice every day.
  8. Other Benefits African mango extract promotes skin health and blood circulation, which in turn improves the skin’s overall health. It stimulates collagen production which results in a smoother and younger-looking skin. African mango promotes hair health and prevents premature graying. It can also promote fat metabolism which helps in weight loss.
